Will Smith made a rare red-carpet appearance with his wife, step-mother, and three children at the Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere on Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Smith, 55, appeared at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre alongside his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, to celebrate the fourth installment of the action franchise. Also in tow were Smith’s three children: Trey, 31, Jaden, 25, and Willow, 23. Smith shares Jaden and Willow with Pinkett Smith. He shares Trey with his first wife, Sheree Zampino, to whom he was married from 1992 until 1995.

Smith and his co-star, Martin Lawrence, arrived at the premiere on a double-decker bus alongside Ride or Die directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and producer Michael Bay, who directed the first two Bad Boys movies. As the bus pulled up outside the cinema, Smith took the mic and rapped a short passage from his hit song “Miami.”

This is Smith’s first major theatrical release since the infamous Oscars-slap incident in 2022. He starred in Antoine Fuqua’s Emancipation (2023) for Apple TV+, which failed to make a substantial critical or cultural impact and saw release only in a small number of theaters.

Fans seemed largely thrilled to welcome Smith back to his blockbuster roots. “Idc I stan this entire family,” wrote Mark Sundstrom on X (formerly Twitter). “Did he slap anyone?” quipped another. Meanwhile, one die-hard fan declared, “They’re ride or die for their family!!”

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is shaping up to reinvigorate the summer’s already waning box office results. Despite Sony’s muted advertising campaign, a recent report found it to be the film U.S. audiences are currently most aware of.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be in theaters on June 7.
