As the year winds down, I took some time to sit with our Annual Reflection Mini-Guide (more on this below), and I was reminded of how powerful this practice can be. At first glance, I felt like not much had changed over the past year. Sure, I’d physically moved states, but in many ways, I thought I was pretty much where I was last December.

But as I dug deeper into the questions and gave myself the space to really reflect, I saw that small but significant shifts had happened — ones that I might have overlooked without this process.

Here are a few key lessons I uncovered:

  • Small steps lead to big shifts. Even when progress doesn’t feel monumental, it adds up in ways that matter.

  • Care for the basics. In chaotic times, I’ve learned the importance of holding steady with the essentials — rest, movement, and space to think.

  • Adaptation and stillness. Growth doesn’t always come from charging ahead. Sometimes, it’s about pausing to recalibrate or shifting direction when needed.

  • Repetition builds mastery. Taking on new challenges, even imperfectly, has helped me stretch and grow in meaningful ways.

All leading me to my word for 2025: Ease. Ease, not easy. I’m finding ways to let go of unnecessary effort while still showing up fully for what matters most.

These reflections have given me a clearer picture of the growth and resilience this year has brought — growth that might not look flashy but has been deeply impactful.
